Experience Cycling like Never Before

Three people carry water containers on their heads while a person on a bicycle carries a container.

The advantage of using a utility bicycle for the task of carrying water is demonstrated in the photo shown here. (This is not our photo, but a still image from a video found online, the origin of which has been misplaced.) 


Three containers of water are being carried - one each - by the three persons walking, and three comparable containers are being carried by the single rider on the oncoming bicycle


We can assume that the bicycle and its cargo is moving at something like three times the speed of the pedestrians over this fairly level terrain. 


The person on the bike - moving three times as much water at three times the speed - is achieving 9 times as much with the investment of their energy and time. Assuming that the vehicle is dependable, the bicyclist will be delivering 9 times as much water as the pedestrian. This is the power of the bicycle; it moves weight over distance at higher efficiency. 


Several Simple models share the capability of moving water at this 9X scale using the power output of a single person. The radically simplified, beginner-buildable, made-of-local-materials Simple cycle may be, in many situations, the least costly and least labor-intensive water hauling option. 


These girls should not be mere 'beasts of burden'. Better to be 'brains on bicycles'.
